The difference between glass fiber cloth and glass material

Time: 2020-08-03 11:56    Auther: Ztelec group

As a commonly used insulating material in industry, glass fiber not only has many types, but also has outstanding performance, and has applications in many fields.

Glass fiber cloth classification:

1. According to the composition: mainly medium alkali, alkali-free, high alkali (to classify the composition of the alkali metal oxide in the glass fiber), of course, there are also classifications by other ingredients, but there are too many varieties and different Enumerate.

2. According to the manufacturing process: crucible wire drawing and pool kiln wire drawing.

3. According to the variety: there are plied yarn, direct yarn, jet yarn and so on.

In addition, it is distinguished by single fiber diameter, TEX number, twist, and sizing agent type.

The classification of glass fiber cloth is the same as the classification of fiber yarn. In addition to the above, it also includes: weave, grammage, width, etc.

The difference between glass fiber cloth and glass material:

There is little difference between the main materials of glass fiber cloth and glass, mainly due to the different material requirements during production, so there are some differences in the formula. The silica content of flat glass is about 70-75%, and the silica content of glass fiber is generally below 60%.

Glass is an inorganic material melted at a high temperature (above 800 degrees, and daily glass is generally melted at 1100 degrees.), below the softening point temperature, there will be no chemical changes. Above the softening point temperature, it just softens, melts, or decomposes, without burning.

Glass fiber cloth is made by drawing glass into very thin glass filaments, and the glass filaments have good flexibility at this time. The glass filament is spun into yarn, and then it can be woven into glass fiber cloth through a loom. Because the glass filaments are extremely thin and the surface area per unit mass is extremely large, the temperature resistance performance is reduced. Just like using a candle to melt thin copper wires.

But glass does not burn. The burning we can see is actually to improve the performance of the glass fiber cloth, and the resin material coated on the surface of the glass fiber cloth, or attached impurities. After pure glass fiber cloth or coated with some high-temperature coatings, products such as fire-resistant clothing, fire-resistant gloves, and fire-resistant blankets can be made. However, if you touch the skin directly, the broken fibers will irritate the skin and make it itchy.

Note for glass fiber cloth:

Generally, conventional glass fiber monofilaments with a diameter of 9-13 microns or more, and glass fiber floats with a diameter of less than 6 microns can directly enter the lung tube and cause respiratory diseases. Therefore, special attention should be paid. Generally, most of them are imported below 6 microns. Professional masks must be worn during production operations. If frequent contact may be inhaled into the lungs, causing pneumoconiosis.

If you have glass fiber on your body, you will be allergic and itchy if your skin is not good, but it is generally not harmful. If your skin is not good, you may get small packets, which is an allergy phenomenon. Just take some anti-allergic medicine. .

If it is difficult to remove clothes on the clothes, pat it a few times in a windy place. After washing and drying, it is easier to remove it by patting with branches, etc., pat it a few times!
