‌Transformer insulation paperboard‌ is an insulating material specially used in transformers and other power equipment. It is mainly made of unbleached kraft softwood pulp processed under high pressure, and has the characteristics of high chemical purity and high mechanical strength. After soaking, the transformer insulation paperboard can have both mechanical and electrical properties, providing reliable insulation protection for power equipment. ‌

1. The role of transformer insulation paperboard
The transformer insulation paperboard mainly plays the following two roles:

1. Insulation protection: When there is electromagnetic induction between the high-voltage winding and the low-voltage winding in the transformer, the voltage generated by the high-voltage winding will be transmitted to the low-voltage winding through the insulation paperboard. Therefore, the insulation paperboard must have high insulation performance to prevent voltage penetration, breakdown and flashover.

2. Support and fixation: The insulation structure stator and rotor in the transformer need to be supported and fixed. Insulation paperboard can be used as the basic material of the support structure, with good support performance and processing performance. At the same time, the insulation paperboard can also withstand a certain mechanical load to ensure the mechanical strength and stability of the transformer.

2. Types of transformer insulation paperboard
According to the different materials and properties of insulation paperboard, it can be divided into the following types:

1. Paper insulation board: Made of imported high-quality hardwood pulp paper, it has high compressive strength and electrical properties, and is widely used in the insulation structure of dry-type transformers.

2. Composite insulation board: Made of multiple layers of insulation paperboard, it has high mechanical strength and weather resistance, and is suitable for the insulation structure of large dry-type transformers.

3. Epoxy fiberglass board: It is composed of epoxy resin and glass fiber, has extremely high mechanical strength and high temperature resistance, and is suitable for the high-voltage insulation structure of oil-immersed transformers.

3. Precautions for the use of transformer insulation paperboard

1. When storing and transporting insulation paperboard, try to avoid folding, wiping and moisture to prevent affecting its insulation performance.

2. During the processing and installation of insulation paperboard, dry and clean tools and equipment must be used to prevent dust, oil and other impurities from affecting its insulation performance.

3. When machining the insulating paperboard, its machining accuracy and surface smoothness must be ensured to prevent defects such as unevenness, scratches or cracks.

4. During the operation of the transformer, the insulating paperboard should be regularly maintained and inspected to promptly detect and eliminate defects such as surface aging, pollution or damage to ensure the long-term stability of its insulation performance.

5. When replacing the transformer insulating paperboard, it must be selected and processed in accordance with technical standards and specifications to prevent the use of inappropriate insulating materials and processes, which will affect the operation effect and safety and reliability of the transformer.
