The Lantern Festival, also known as Shangyuan Festival, is the first full moon night of the Lunar New Year and the closing day of the Spring Festival celebrations. On this day, people light colorful lanterns, guess lantern riddles, perform dragon and lion dances, and set off fireworks to pray for peace and happiness in the new year.

One of the most representative customs of the Lantern Festival is eating sweet dumplings. The sweet dumplings with their round shape symbolize “reunion and harmony”.
